For older and disabled people who want to remain living independently in their own home, an in-home support provider that fits their needs is paramount to their quality of life.

Sofia and Mark Jak say the care they receive from their in-home support provider, Diversicare, a division of the Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland, is priceless and immeasurable.

“They make living at home independently a reality for us,” Mr Jak said.

Diversicare General Manager Vivienne McDonald says that recent changes to the aged care industry will allow people who are eligible for a package (consumers) to be the primary decision maker on how their package of services is tailored.

“We ensure you are aware of these changes and we ensure our services meet your changing needs,” she said.

“We also match up a home care worker from the same language background if you speak English as a second language.

“Diversicare provides all four levels of care from basic domestic assistance to nursing care and our team of dedicated coordinators will work with you to prioritise your needs.”

Visit myagedcare.gov to be assessed for a home care package and when you are approved for a package you have 56 days to choose a provider.
