Diversicare has been supporting South East Queensland since 1989 and is the community services division of the Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland (ECCQ), the state’s peak body for ethnic communities and cultural diversity.
General Manager, Vivienne McDonald says that Diversicare’s bilingual carers allow easy communication between carers and consumers, among other benefits.
“Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) consumers feel more comfortable when they can welcome someone of the same language background into their home.
“Our bilingual carers represent up to 45 different languages, some of these include Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Dutch, Croatian, Italian, Hindi, Vietnamese and Polish,” said Ms McDonald.
Diversicare delivers flexible, high quality Care services and aims to consistently provide consistent carer to meet your needs.
Diversicare client Mrs Tuhacek says that the care Diversicare provides allows her to continue living independently.
“Diversicare respects my house and my culture and I respect them, they are flexible with the services.
“I asked for twice a week and they gave me services twice a week,” said Mrs Tuhacek.
“The Home Care Worker will take me shopping, they will do the vacuuming. I put on the washing and they will hang it out, take it in and fold the washing for me,” said Mrs Tuhacek.
