The Cultural Briefing Roadshow has been a resounding success with over 300 attendees over the course of the sessions. Not only was it delivered in major cities such as Brisbane, Townsville, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Cairns, but reached out to the more rural and remote areas of Toowoomba, Warwick, and Rockhampton.
The Cultural Briefings (CB,) were delivered by our very own Multicultural Advisory Officers, Hussein Ahmed (Somali CB), Thana Roysmith (Indian CB) and Bushra Aman (Islamic religion). The presenters were able to share personal stories and in-depth insight into these cultures and religion. The aim of the Cultural Briefings for Service Providers was to increase knowledge of particular cultures/religion so that they are better equipped to provide culturally appropriate care to clients. The feedback from the attendees has been outstanding, some of which include:
