In conjunction with Diversicare, researchers at the University of Queensland have been successful in obtaining funding from the Australian Research Council for the project Ageing Well in a Foreign Land: Identity, Social Connectedness, Well-being.
This project (2016-2019) aims to understand the best approaches to help older people to adjust socially and culturally in Australia. The project aims to explore:
What factors contribute to social isolation and low well-being in CALD older people?
When and how does participation in Diversicare’s respite activities help to reduce social isolation and improve well-being?
How successful are those activities in helping CALD older people to enhance social connectedness, community integration and well-being?
