Diversicare is offering free morning tea information sessions to inform consumers of the upcoming changes in the aged care system.
After 27 February this year, consumers will have the option of accessing their Home Care Package through any service provider of their choice.
Diversicare delivers flexible, consistent and high quality in-home support services for consumers to maintain good health and well-being.
Diversicare general manager Vivienne McDonald said packages enable consumers to continue living independently and supported at home. These could include, but are not limited to podiatry, remedial massage, accompanied shopping, general house cleaning and personal care services.
Ms McDonald said the Home Care Package Programme provides a tailored package of home support services.
“There are four levels of care available to support consumers; from basic to high level care needs,” she said.
“Each package level is allocated a different amount of funding. Consumers contribute a basic daily fee and (depending on their level of income) an income-tested fee.
“In order to start a Home Care Package a consumer must undergo an in-home assessment by the Aged Care Assessment Team. These packages are not age specific as consumers are assessed on their needs.”
